It’s been a while since I did a roundup of interesting stuff I’ve come across. Time to rectify that!

  • Williamsburg’s (and NYC’s, for that matter) superstar butcher Tom Mylan is joining forces with fellow Marlow alum Brent Young and Harry and Taylor from The Brooklyn Kitchen to open a “food dork megaplex” on Meeker Street, right around the corner from me! How exciting. I knew Harry and Taylor were working on this, but somehow I’d missed the fact that Mylan and Young are involved, too.
  • Top Chef fans: If you’re not already reading Amuse-Biatch, start now, mkay? Hi-larious.
  • I’m not sure how I feel about Jif peanut butter made with added fish oil. No wait, I am sure. I just threw up. Urp.
  • As a lactationally-challenged woman back when Harry was wee, the notion of having enough extra breastmilk to make soap is astonishing. And like with the Jif, perhaps a little revolting.
  • Eat Me Daily did an amazing roundup of fall cookbooks a few days ago. My I-want-that list is ridiculously long. #1 pick? Baking by James Peterson. #2: The Pioneer Woman’s first book. What’s on your wish list?
  • The first issue of Edible Queens hits the streets in a few weeks. Can’t wait to see it!
  • These Baked Samosas with Peach Chutney from BrokeAss Gourmet set my heart a-racing.
  • Oh! Oh! How could I not have mentioned these Zucchini Fries from Ceramic Canvas? I think it’s a vegetable dish Harry may actually eat. (Plus, that is the most gorgeous blog. Take a look.)
  • And finally, here’s a new blog I just heard about, by freelance writer Melanie McMinn. It’s called The Frugal Kiwi, and it certainly looks promising. (And a whole lot prettier than Words to Eat By looked when I first started blogging.)
  • Here’s a late addition: Happy First Birthday, Eensies!
