Well hello, gorgeous! If you've got kids, I probably don't have to explain what "Parents Need to Eat Too" means. But I will anyway: I make food for grownups that also pleases even the earliest eaters (as in my cookbook, all the recipes here end with instructions for using what you've cooked as baby food). And that kid holding the artichoke up there is so stubborn I like to call him "non-nivorous," so you'll find plenty of picky-eater posts. (Even he is powerless in the face of The Best Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies in the Entire World.) Anyhoosie, poke around a bit, and if you like what you see maybe you'll subscribe to my newsletter or RSS feed. Or "like" me on Facebook. Or follow me on Twitter. So many options! Thanks for visiting. Did I mention how nice you look today?

Now that we’ve re-acquired our backyard, we’ve made it a point to grill just about every warm weekend. Polynesian Flank Steak. Ginger-and-Honey-Marinated Chicken. Kebabs. Plain ol’ burgers. Did you ever get so tired of dealing with your picky eater’s family’s food issues that you just want to hang up your potholders, walk out the kitchen door, and live on takeout until it’s just you & your spouse again? I admit, when I read Greg Smith’s resignation letter/op-ed in the New York Times ...Keep Reading

A food writer without an oven is like a beauty queen without a pageant. A filmmaker without a screen. A politician without an election: You can lay the most spectacular groundwork, but with no way to finish, it’s all for naught. Welcome to my life. Halfway through my second batch of these babies, after the ...Keep Reading

Can you believe how many sweets I’ve written about in the last few weeks? I weighed myself this morning and it ain’t pretty—up 4 pounds since Thanksgiving. Oof. So here’s something on the savory side, for when you’ve got extra piecrust lying around but don’t want to, y’know, pile on even more weight. The curry, ...Keep Reading
