Sigh.

Last night provided the big rain storm we’d been hoping for, to test our fix-it man’s assertion that the ridonculous number of leaks in our kitchen had been fully sealed.

Yeah, not so much. It started out promisingly enough, with no leakage all throughout the day. But that was just garden-variety rain. Once the deluge started sometime after 8:00 last night, the familiar drip-drip-drip returned, first in one spot, then another, then another, and another, and another… Good thing we hadn’t put away most of our buckets, pots, and bowls.

The fix-it man returns this evening. He admits he has absolutely no idea where the water is getting in, so I’m not exactly hopeful that things will be any different after he leaves.

As for dinner, we’ll be picnicking in the living room again. At least it’s something comforting: Slow-Cooker Butternut Squash Risotto. If that doesn’t make us feel better about the sorry state of our kitchen, I don’t know what will.

I feel your pain!! We've had the leak in the roof above our bedroom fixed countless times, yet during the rainstorm yesterday we had quite the influx of water. It ruined a big area of paint and drywall, and also our sleep as it continued to drip overnight. :p Suddenly I am very thankful for the (mostly function) roof over our heads!

oh, SIGH. How incredibly annoying. I once had a landlord who was convinced that our roof only leaked "when it rained from the East." uh-huh. really.

It makes me feel the teensiest bit better that we're not the only people dealing with silliness like this.

Oh, and Mr Fix-It declined to make an appearance today. He says he knows exactly where the leaks are and he'll be here tomorrow. Uh-huh.
