It’s not often that I’m in on the ground floor of something this exciting. But a friend of mine–a friend of Stephen’s initially, who’s now a friend of mine–is launching a new food magazine dedicated to my old stomping grounds, Queens, New York. Leah McLaughlin is herself a resident, and boy does she know food. I ate some of the best corned beef of my life at her St. Patrick’s Day party (and naturally, she journeyed to Sunnyside, home of the city’s best Irish butchers, to buy it).
Edible Queens will be coming out this fall. I’ll be contributing. If you live in the boro, or just wish you did (where else are you gonna find Bukharian kebabs mere subway stops away from Balkan bureks or Indian sweets?), be sure to pick up a copy when it comes out. Or better yet, subscribe now, and never worry about missing an issue.
